Male pattern baldness is the most common cause of hair loss in men, responsible for approximately 95% of all UAE male hair loss. Male pattern baldness is caused by an increase in scalp sensitivity to a change in the male hormone testosterone, known as dihydrotestosterone (DHT)This growth in hormone sensitivity effects certain areas of the scalp (the pattern) and results in a loss in size of the effected hair follicles. Usually, hair follicles never "die" until very late in a person’s life, but eventually these follicles reduce in size so much that they cannot grow new hair to replace even normal hair loss resulting in baldness.

Hair follicles can be stimulated with a Chinese doctor’s skill of acupuncture and knowledge of Chinese herbal medicine. For patients with a chronic or more complicated hair loss condition our Chinese herbal practitioner will prescribe a mixture of herbal medicine. This is far stronger than the patented herbal medicines and is a real test of the practitioner’s skill and expertise.

A mixture of herbal medicine is a combination of several dried Chinese herbs. Water is added to this mixture, and after boiling, the juice is drunk as a tea. In all cases clients will be advised of the necessity for acupuncture treatment to achieve success. Normally the treatment follows a course which spans a number of weeks or months with usually one session of acupuncture a week. The precise manner of this treatment is known only to our practitioner, so once the treatment is seen to work, he only can tell you how to reduce the number of visits to Chaslu for taking the treatments. Hair follicles take a fairly long time to show results, so you must be patient. It can take up to eight weeks before new hair growth becomes visible. Once clients have seen their hair start to grow back some are tempted to reduce the sessions of acupuncture and to make the herbal medicine last longer by reducing the dosage, this only results in a decline of the effectiveness for this hair loss treatment.
